Ms. Siyasanga Mbele’s research focuses on water governance with particular interest on the water resources management at local scale. Her study focuses on the understanding of water governance strategies for participatory processes in Umzimvubu catchment management for water conservation within Alfred Nzo District Municipality, Eastern Cape. The study will take place in the upper areas of Umzimvubu Catchment which fall within the boundary of Matatiele Local Municipality with aim of exploring and understanding involvement intensity of rural communities in water governance. As the rural areas are at the lowest level of the society and likely to be directly and indirectly affected by how water governance strategies are designed as well as their implications after implementation. Therefore, this research study intends to address water related issues in the rural areas with full devotion for the betterment of rural livelihoods and water poverty reduction in rural areas.
